Reflections Lake Kayak Paddle
It's been so cool and overcast today. All the mountain peaks are obscured in clouds. But at least it is totally calm. Hiking didn't seem very inviting so I took the Oru Kayak to Reflections Lake. First, Bella and I walked the one mile trail around the lake. Then I got the kayak out of the car and set it up on the beach. It was so beautifully calm, I could have stayed out there forever. Bella as usual, was very interested in every piece of water vegetation and barked at anyone she saw walking along the trail. When we crossed under the bridge, a very large dog was crossing above us. Bella was so excited and barking so loudly that I was afraid she might leap right out of the boat. But she managed to stay aboard. The water is very high right now after our recent rains and warm temperatures. We were able to wander through many little fingers of water through the reeds and grasses on the opposite side of the bridge from the main lake. It's always very peaceful there, away from the trail. After exploring that area, we crossed below the bridge again and paddled back to the spot where we had put in. I'm not sure if my dog loved it or hated it. But at least she didn't jump out this time.
