3 On the Treadmill

This is probably my last treadmill run until I am back home on Thursday.  I just ran 3 miles to keep myself moving.  Tomorrow I have to pack and do laundry and all that stuff so won't have a chance to run.  But I will be home and running outdoors again.  Can't wait!

Poked along on the treadmill for 5 more miles.  Had some trouble sleeping so got up kind of late.  It's warming up outside though, up to +2 right now.  Too bad there isn't a good place to run out there.  I think I could handle that temperature.  I may be up here another three weeks.  By then there may be a place to run outside.  But spring doesn't come very quickly up here.

That Was Fun

So much to do these days.  Got in a short 3 miles though.  Only 8 more days and I will be running along the roads at home.  I just can't wait! I've got cabin fever but am nowhere near my cabin.  Maybe I have Prudhoe Bay Hotel fever along with Spring fever.  +15 today so it is warming up.

5 Miles Again

I'm in a 5 mile rut.  So much stress this week that I have not even had time to work out.  Made myself get on the treadmill today though.  Maybe it's the Super Moon everyone has been talking about, that has made this week so obnoxious.  It was quite lovely last night. I guess spring is finally here.  It is all the way up to +6 outside here in Deadhorse.  It is calm too.  If I had a place to run, I could have almost run outdoors.  But the truckers don't like it when people are running in the middle of their ice road.  Fussy guys!

Haven't had my mind on running too much the last few days.  I hate to take my eyes off the TV.  I am caught up in the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan.  So heartbreaking.

Just a Short 3 Miles

Dragging a bit today.  Probably just laziness.  I really need to have another Team In Training even on my agenda because it gives me purpose and drive.  I will be doing the Nike Women's Marathon in October so at least I know I have to keep on moving if I want to be able to finish that. I'm thinking long run tomorrow.  I need a bear running behind me on the treadmill to get me moving!
Great Northern Lights last night in Palmer.  I wish I could have been there.  But my best buddy Mark was there and produced this amazing shot for the world.  We just had a touch of display here last night.

Great 5 Miles on the Treadmill

Only about 3 more weeks and I will be back in civilization where I can run somewhere other than on the treadmill.  But for now I am so thankful that I have it.  It's Ash wednesday, first day of Lent.  I'm letting go of some of the extra goodies that I find down in the dining room here at the hotel.  Lent is a time to examine every aspect of our lives.  I'm looking for more ways to race to save lives.  Signing up for Team In Training again soon.

Nice Little Workout

Just another 3 mile treadmill run.  Woke up late again.  I hate to resort to the alarm clock though.  At least the sun in my eyes gets me up before I have to get ready for work. Oh how I wish I could run outdoors again.  I thought about giving it a try but there is just no safe place to run.  I can just imagine the truckers if they see me running around Colleen Lake on the edge of the snow and ice covered road in -15 with the wind blowing.  One of them chewed me out last summer for doing that, and it was good weather.  They might just run me down to get me out of their way if I did it now. 
It's really inviting out there right now.

5 Miles Today

I had a great treadmill run today, 5 miles.  It felt really good.  I followed that with my Nike Training Club iPhone app workout.  Boy is that one tough workout!  It didn't post to Facebook like it was supposed to though.  Seems like it is not quie posting there or on the Nike Women's website yet.  But it is a very new app. Waiting for updates!  I love it though.  I have some weights here in my Prudhoe Bay Hotel room and they work great with it.  I have no idea who they belong to, but I am putting them to good use.  Each time I do this workout my muscles get really sore.  Lots of pain so there must be some gain! Have to work hard indoors to compensate for the icy Arctic conditions outdoors.  It's -16 right now and of course, dark.

Missed a Few!

I see that I failed to enter my last two runs.  They were not terribly exciting ones, but I did at least run a couple of short 3 milers on the treadmill on March 2nd and March 3rd.  I only have a few hours free in the afternoon when I wake up, so I find that if anything else gets in the way, sometimes I can't fit in a run.  I really hate it when that happens!  I guess those two days, I didn't even get a chance to stop here and write about my little runs even if they were just shorties. 

It's still way too cold, and there is no place up here in Deadhorse where a person could run without risking getting hit by a truck, or getting blown away by an icy wind.  So, it's off to the treadmill I go, probably until I am back in Palmer.  I do look forward to that day, April Fool's Day when I can run outdoors again.
