It was pouring rain when I woke up, but by noon it was a beautiful sunny day. I met my friend Pam at Matanuska Lake and we hiked the 4.5 mile Long Lake Loop. The fall colors are really starting to show. We met several nice ladies with lots of nice dogs. I really miss Baby on little hikes like this. She would have loved being there today. Of course she was with me in spirit the whole way. We did walk down to Long Lake to see if there is a good spot where I can set up my kayak. There is a perfect little flat spot just before the trail drops down to the water. The next sunny day, I'll consider hiking up the short trail and visiting Long Lake from the water side. But for today, we just stayed on the shore.
