It keeps raining every day now. I had to get out of the house and into nature. It was very cloudy and rainy everywhere but I decided to drive up to Hatcher Pass and see if Bella and I could find a place for a short hike. When we got to Independence Mine it wasn't raining, so we took a chance and headed up the Gold Cord Lake Trail. It has definitely been raining a lot up there lately but for the moment it was only just very cloudy. We made our way around the muddy area that was much deeper than the last time we came up here. Instead of trying to stay close to the trail, we found an alternate trail around the big rocks and missed the mud and water altogether. We passed a few other hikers but it wasn't very crowded due to the stormy weather. We made it up to the lake and walked part way around the lake until it started to rain lightly. We turned back after that and managed to make it all the way back to the car before it started really pouring. I know Bella enjoyed getting out away from just walking up and down our street. The trail is much more interesting, with ground squirrel running around and marmots whistling.
