I hiked the Gold Mint Trail with Mark and Bella today. We only were able to hike to about mile 1 because we encountered a massive avalanche that had completely obliterated the trail. I could see that some people had found a way around it, but that would involve a steep climb, or skis or post holing to go down towards the river to get below it. I needed my micro spikes to climb up to the top of it. Mark didn't have spikes, and it would have been nearly impossible to get up there without them. I climbed up and took some pictures of Bella who, of course ran to the top and looked down on us. Mark snapped a couple of pictures of me and Bella up on the high point. It was really impressive. Plus, it was a spectacularly beautiful day.
