Matanuska Peak Trail

Bella and I hiked up the Matanuska Peak Trail today with the Valley Wanderers. Our plan was to snowshoe up to Stonehenge, but Bella managed to lose all 4 of her booties. She didn't seem to be actually having any trouble and stayed with the leader of the group. But suddenly I came upon her sitting on the trail unable to move. Snow had built up on her fur and had formed 5 or 6 gigantic snowballs the size of baseballs. They were so heavy that she couldn't move anymore. I had to use my own teeth to break them up, since they had turned to ice. While I was engaged in that ridiculous project, suddenly, Bigby, Nan's big dog joined us and was licking my face. Nan followed shortly. She said her dog had given up and they were now turning back. I put Bella in my backpack and decided that I liked their idea, so we also turned back. We didn't make it to Stonehenge, but I still go a nice 2.4-mile workout, especially carrying my dog back down to the car.
