Nice 10 mile hike today with the Walkabouts hiking group. Pam was the leader. We started at the Crevasse Moraine Trailhead, took the outer loop then the Long Lake Connector to the Long Lake Loop Trail. Then we returned via the connector to the Expressway and on back to the trailhead. It was 10 miles total. Pam had checked the trail the other day and said just rubber boots would be best since it is no longer snow-covered but is now wet and muddy. I wore my waterproof snow boots and they worked great. It really was muddy in many places. There were still a few snow patches but we were able to avoid the worst spots by skirting the edge of the snow piles. There were a few huge puddles to negotiate, but nothing too serious. It was a nice temperature for hiking, although not very sunny. I was starting to get really tired by the 8th mile. I was still tired from the Lazy Mountain trek the day before. But it was a nice mellow walk after all the struggles yesterday getting down from Lazy Mountain. Some of the trails have steep hills but nothing I would consider difficult. All the lakes appear to still be frozen. I enjoyed hiking with the group again.
