My intention was to hike the entire Long Lake Loop. But the signs can be quite confusing on that series of trails. Somehow I missed a turn that would have kept me on the loop. I ended up at Johnson Lake. At that point it was getting late and I had no choice but to retrace my steps back to the car. The trail was almost all ice since we've had a few days of warming. Baby seemed to like walking on the ice, much more than on deep snow. It was about 30 degrees, so fairly warm too. I didn't have to carry her at all. She led us right back to the trailhead too. Dogs have a much better sense of direction that some of us humans. It was a great little hike. Next time I come here I'm taking a map along!
